...DANGEROUS MARINE CONDITIONS EXPECTED ACROSS THE COASTAL WATERS TODAY INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY... A strong cold front will move through the coastal waters today, likely bringing strong Gale force southeast to south winds gusting in the 35 to 45 knot range. There is a 20 percent chance of storm force gusts up to 50 knots across the northern outer waters this morning. By this afternoon, winds are expected to shift to the southwest and west behind the cold front, with the potential for additional Gale force wind gusts up to 35 knots. The strong Gale force winds will likely bring large and very choppy seas today and tonight, with the potential for breaking waves at Morro Bay and Ventura Harbors. In addition, there is a slight chance of thunderstorms today and tonight across the coastal waters, capable of producing brief heavy downpours, strong winds, small hail, dangerous cloud to ocean lightning, and isolated waterspouts.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 AM PDT THIS MORNING FOR MUCH OF SANTA BARBARA, VENTURA, AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southwest California, including the following counties, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Ventura. * WHEN...Until 730 AM PDT. * IMPACTS...There will be flooding of roadways, small streams, and creeks. In addition, there will be an increased risk of rock and mudslides, especially in and near the lower mountains and canyon roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 136 AM PDT, Doppler radar indicated moderate rainfall across the region. Rainfall rates are expected to increase later tonight into early Tuesday morning. Rainfall rates between 0.25 and 0.50 inches per hour will be common, with local rates up to 0.75 inches across favored south facing slopes. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the advisory area through early Tuesday morning. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 feet above 6000 feet, 10-20 inches between 5000 and 6000 feet, and 2-10 inches between 3500 and 5000 feet. Southerly Winds gusting as high as 75 mph. * WHERE...Interstate 5 Corridor, Western San Gabriel Mountains and Highway 14 Corridor and Eastern San Gabriel Mountains. * WHEN...Until 11 PM PDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
